Why does the left shut down free speech?

A few hundred feet apart, yet worlds away politically, furious students at UC Berkeley protested the final stop of the conservative organization Turning Point USA’s “American Comeback Tour,” hosted Monday night on what is known as the nation’s most liberal campus.

The event drew many older attendees who at various moments danced to “YMCA,” laughed, and held moments of silence for the late TPUSA leader Charlie Kirk.

Outside the event, students, most of them far younger than the attendees inside, faced off with police in riot gear, with physical fights prompting arrests. One man was taken to a hospital after being struck in the head.

On Tuesday morning, Assistant U.S. Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon announced the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division would investigate the event. Attorney General Pam Bondi also tweeted that the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force would be launching a full investigation of what she called “violent riots at UC Berkeley.”

So these students were protesting outside an event. There was a physical confrontation with police in which a man was injured. A politician appears to be trying to make political capital out of the incident by describing it as terrorism.

How does this amount to the left shutting down free speech?

@SunshineGirl Antifa, the left wing paramilitary org, showed up at the event and instigated violence with childish antics and dirty tricks.

They didn't shut down the event, but they sure tried. They demonstrated their contempt of the Constitution and Bill of Rights regarding Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Association, and Freedom to Assemble.

They are a terrorist organization and need to be swept up and charged with the violent crimes they so often instigate.

@SumKindaMunster You are certainly on message. You sound like a government spokes person.

@SunshineGirl You asked a question and I answered it relevantly.

Sorry you don't like the "message" but maybe you can try to remember that you consistently insert yourself into American political discussions asking loaded questions and providing misinformation.

Stop doing that, and I will stop correcting your ignorance and propaganda

@SumKindaMunster I posed a logical question to the original poster (but thank you anyhow for sticking your oar in). It was a question about the conclusion they had drawn from a set of statements. It implies no political stance.

First of all they were there to intimidate people that were going in. Also, here is what they do at TPUSA events. As soon as
tickets are available, they get up as many as they can, they do this and do not go.

They do it so less people get to go, that want to go.

The left has been doing this stuff for years. They also go into right wing conferences and events and do everything they
can to shout down and shut up opposing views.

The left does not believe the right should have the platform they have. The right has 10% of media, 10% of Hollywood,
but to the left that is too much. The left are now becoming a full fledged National Socialist Party.
