When Trump announced his "liberation day" corporations loaded up on goods ahead of the tariff date.
Go look at the US imports. They were huge.
As this inventory of goods gets purchased by consumers, the next round will have the new import tariffs applied. Time will tell how soon corporations begin to raise prices to consumers....but they will.
BTW, steel and aluminum remain at 50% import tariff rare.

@JSul3 i hope this time the supply side economics, the trickle down will work! it has never in the past.
JSul3 · 70-79
@samueltyler2 One thing is for sure, the rich will continue to relieve themselves upon those below them in the economic chain.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@JSul3 i hate to admit that i am likely to benefit myself, but i still don't think what is being done is fair.
JSul3 · 70-79
@samueltyler2 I appreciate your honesty.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@JSul3 it bothers me sometimes that i am in the group that will haunt some advantage. B6 no means what the really rich will receive though

@samueltyler2 I think Trickle down works much better than Trickle up. The last 4 years have not really hurt me, I'm
set for life after 50 years of hard work. The people that have suffered the most over the last 4 years are the poor, and
even the middle class.
High interest rates and high energy costs are killers for the poor. Energy is starting to come down, Interest rates will
soon follow.

@DogMan COVID created havoc, as did a huge increase in the national debt.
Can anyone tell me any time the trickle down effect has worked? To my memory, every time it was tried, we ended in economic trouble. Perhaps this time may be different. We will have to wait and see. The. The argument may be, do you trust the figures.
Right now i see the raise week after week in the supermarket!

@samueltyler2 I'm seeing prices coming down in Southern Nevada and Southern Utah where I spend my time,
Hopefully it will reach you soon. Eggs and Bacon are still higher than I would like. 3% GDP growth this quarter, we can't
complain about that.

@DogMan we just went to buy paper dinner Napkins. The last we ordered them they cost $12 for the same package they charge $22 today. Blackberries were $3.99 last month, now 4.99
DogMan · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 You might have to change brands. I'm sure you can find some for 12.00.
If I had time I would help you shop.

@DogMan that isn't the point! The point is that inflation might not effect you, yet, but no one can deny that tariffs are hidden taxes on the purchaser.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 It will get better, as energy prices come down.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DogMan i hope so. I will not hold my breath. Not with the fossil fuel industry controlling everything.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 It will be OK Sam. Lets keep in touch and talk about it. 🍻
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DogMan i hope it will, but there are so many signs our country is going in the Wrong direction, i am worried about more than the inflation.

@JSul3 I buy Steel components from different places in the world. China Steel still has a 10% increase in effect,
it was as high as 30% We are currently buying steel from Canada and getting better prices than we have in
the last 10-12 years. Although we do have to buy a larger quantity to get that price

@samueltyler2 Just don't listen to the side that is predicting doom and gloom. Most of them are just trying
to scare people into hating this administration with all their heart.

samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DogMan there are many things other than the economy to worry about. The lifelong appointment of a man who told the administration to ignore judicial rulings, the rolling back of clean air and water regulations to enable industry to polite and make more money, the denial of the effectiveness of immunizations, are all existential and could result in even far more economic damage. The bird flu cost gazilliond of dollars, that seems under control, now we are watching the development of the screwworm which may cause already inflated beef prices to skyrocket.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@DogMan i am only speaking for myself, 8 don't user the term hate. But i am worried that we are reversing over a century of improvement in health and civil rights, almost overnight.
DogMan · 61-69, M
@samueltyler2 Well I'm not too happy about healthcare, thats for sure. My wife and I went on Medicare last
year, and we are paying more and getting worse care. Good thing we are both healthy.
I think they ding us because we are both still working and have a pretty high income.
As far as civil rights, I do not see that. Everyone has the same rights. I have not heard about anyones
rights being revoked, unless you are talking about Illegals.
I'm mixed on that issue. I want every illegal that is here working and paying taxes to stay.

@DogMan i am a retired physician and i think i am a pretty good judge of health care. Medicare is amazing. It certainly can be improved. As to its cost, i used the health insurance my hospital partially paid for us and not Medicare while i was working. What I had to pay for that insurance was about the same as I now pay to Medicare. Yes, you are charged more depending upon the coverage you buy and your adjusted gross income. That seems fair to me.
The fact is that the US has no true health care system, the closest we can us ACA which certain politicians want to end. It brought more people under an umbrella of insurance and improved care and the cost of such care. ACA was supposed to effect the cost of educating providers and public health, both of those were stripped out by the politicians who claimed it was too socialistic. The average medical student now graduates over $200k in debt!

@samueltyler2 I'm sure you are right, it just seems.....clunky...is that a good word? I'm on TRT, nothing other than that.
I used to go to my Doctor every 3-6 months, he checked my prostate and did labs, then renewed my RX.
My doctor now cannot prescribe T, so she sent me to another guy that made me me give blood every 3 months
I was fine with that. Then he said he wanted me to go to a sleep specialist to do a sleep study. I told him
I sleep well and don't snore, and that I didn't think I needed to do that. All these years it's never been a thing.
I just got a letter saying he was dropping me as a patient because I would not do the sleep study.
Now the search continues.

@samueltyler2 Have a good day Sam, I'm leaving the office for the day. Gym day today, I have to keep pushing.
I want to use Medicare as little as possible. 😉
