The N.A.C.P. will not invite President Trump to its national convention. It is a 116-year tradition of inviting the president to the marquee event of the largest and oldest U.S. civil rights organization.
I understand why they don't want him there, but I think they're letting him off the hook. Now he can say "Well, they didn't want me there," whereas if they'd invited him he would have had to come up with an excuse not to go.
