Whay will happen, when States run their own schools?

I think it will be much better. It will create competition, which always helps.

It will show what works, and what doesn't. Instead of doing that same thing
over and over, expecting different results.

States already do run their own schools. There is no national curriculum directing what must be taught or how. There are national standards but it is up to each state to either adopt, modify, or reject those standards. The department of Ed basically coordinates the allocation of federal funds for school nutrition, special education, and other programs that benefit students who need special considerations.

@DogMan the NEA is one of the two major unions supporting public educators ( the other being the AFT). Do "we" need the NEA...nope..but their members need the support, advocacy, and lobbying they do to get the federal funds allocated to the students, schools, and states whom they serve. I may be wrong but i don't think any taxpayer dollars goes to support this organization except the dues which they collect from their members. The reason the NEA seems to be in the cross hairs of MAGA ire is when they support candidates which tend to be less conservative.

@DogMan oh i am sure but as a former member i guess i would want to know what constitutes a politics-related expenditure outside of lobbying Congress. I am very aware that the NEA is a very powerful union and likely why most politicians who run afoul of their agenda would like to see them go away.

@fanuc2013 which would be a state mandate to the local districts in California, not from the federal government.
