School Vouchers

I just heard that Kamala, and Democrat politicians, do not want school vouchers.

I have read that this is great for kids, especially underprivileged kids. Why would
someone be against it? Is it because Republican are FOR it?

This is an issue I see both sides on. Vouchers for private schools can hurt public schools.

Honestly, I'm not thrilled with having the Federal government making any big decisions on those, because it seems like a really local issue.

I would have loved to have them when I put my kids through private schools, but I only did that because the public schools were so bad.

@MistyCee Yes, it does appear that the per child money is taken from the public schools
when they leave that system, but it wouldn't be fair if that didn't happen.
@DogMan one way to look at this is to see who is doing better. Are public schools academically superior in results than charter schools?

@soar2newhighs Right, we all know charter schools are superior, so it makes you wonder
why some people are against it.
@DogMan It seems silly to say "not all charters," but it's true. Where I used to live (I'm actually in a suburb now), they shut down the entire public school system and went almost fully charters.

Mostly it was better than before), but some charters failed and we've had issues dealing with regulating charters, which continue even after some but not all public schools have reopened.

My point is, I really think this is an issue that needs, at a minimum a lot of local flexibility rather than a one size fits all Federal approach.
