Gender Transition problems

Research On Children ‘Growing Out’ Of Gender Dysphoria Adds Layer Of Complexity To Transgender Care
Although research shows that up to 94 percent of children will "grow out" of their transgender identity, advocates say that those studies were flawed in the first place and shouldn't dictate how doctors care for young children who want to socially transition.

This should be enough, for anyone that believes children should be transitioned young.

94% seems high, as I have seen stats as low as 70% But even if it were 50%, wouldn't
that make you think about the ramifications?

Again, zero evidence and zero sources.

So zero reason to take anything you say seriously.

And all this to spread the lie that people are performing surgery on kids to justify taking away bodily autonomy.

And you want rules that only apply to others.

I am guessing you are not volunteering to let others make decisions about your medical health based on their feelings.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow How about we let kids be kids and let them grow up and figure out who they are for themselves.
@Adrift That is exactly what is happening. The problem is people who think children are the property of their parents and that their parents have the right to dictate the identity of their child by force if required.

And the reality is when trans kids are denied support the likelihood they will not live to adulthood goes up exponentially.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Do you have kids? My guess is not.
Parents are responsible for their children, thier safety, their health and their actions until they are of the age of maturity.
Parents have the duty to protect their children from exploitation.
Children have to be 18 to get tattoos or piercings without parental consent.
@Adrift None of that has anything to do with forcing a child to conform to the ideals of the parents or put their lives at risk because it makes their conservative parents feel uncomfortable that their kid doesn't conform to a 100 year old ideal.
@Adrift Telling your kid " You can't wear a dress because daddy is insecure" is not good parenting.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Its not daddy thats the problem, its the other boys making fun of him.
I actually grew up in the real world.
@Adrift Absolutely it is. This is all about a bunch of insecure conservative men.

They will be made fun of regardless. Part of being a parent is supporting your child. Not reinforcing the position of the bully.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow
Growing up is a part of each person's individual journey and by allowing them to make permanent disfiguring decisions about their body before they have even had a chance to mature, is stealing away from that journey.
Its a parents job to guide and protect their children.
This is why we dont allow them to smoke, drink alcohol, buy firearms or, hang out with older people who can exploit them.
@Adrift True which is why nobody is performing surgery on minors anywhere despite the urban legends right wingers repeat with no evidence.

We are talking about social transitions. Taking a different name and wardrobe changes.
@Adrift And by that same logic minors should be barred from military service.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow 18 is not a minor.
You can enlist with parental consent or proof of emancipation.
@Adrift look it up. 17 is the minimum, not 18.
Adrift · 61-69, F
@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow Unless they changed the age requirement, it was 17 with parental consent.
BTW, the military was a good option for kids who would otherwise be living on the street.
I went to school with a few kids like this and I also had know of some that had decided to go into the military and make it their career because college was not an option.
A few I know are already close to retirement and not even 50 yet.
They went in early, made a plan and are now enjoying life.
I cant blame them for having a better plan than I did.
@Adrift According to USA.gov there is no requirement for parental consent for any branch in the US.

You know what also leads to happy well adjusted people? Being free to be yourself with the love and support of your family and no risk of IEDs.

BTW, my husband was in the military.

IEDs!?
How did we get gender transition without parental consent to risk of IEDs?
Unless your kid is going to school with pipe bombs shoved down his pants, I think we all good.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@Adrift You made it sound like joining the military is like going into the peace corp or higher education.

Seems you are ok with 17 year old going to kill people or get blown up but god forbid they decide they want to be called Susan instead of Samuel.
