@eli1601 Thank you for the opportunity to present a case in point. America is a world leader in the politics of division and has exported it. Now riddle me this. In a Tug of War, a bunch of swaety men (or women, lets not be sexist) pull on a rope and end up exhausted, with little to no actual progress being accomplished for the group as a whole. And you immediately set yourself up to be a member of one of those teams, pushing out all your energy with no benefit to the nation as a whole. Of course, the other side does the same. Who is right? It doesnt matter. That attitude means the nation is going nowhere. My country doesnt need that attitude.. 馃樂

@whowasthatmaskedman

[Who is right?]

Those who realize we can't live together and want an "amicable" separation.
whowasthatmaskedman70-79, M
@eli1601 There is no "right" Thats kind of my point..This is about a portion of the worlds population competing for dominance with another part of the worlds population. Not the left against the right. Now if you guys dont want to be in the running, thats fine. Quit asking the world to fund your squabbles and exporting your Kardashian values. Shooting yourself in the foot is not a win.馃樂

@whowasthatmaskedman Just because we are willing to export, you don't have to import.
whowasthatmaskedman70-79, M
@eli1601 I dont claim to be without blame here..And After all, Rupert Murdoch was ours..(for which I humbly apologise to the world) But from Seinfeld to the Kardashians, the underlying values are 馃挬. America used to be the land of hope and promise. Now it is the land of fear and threat. And that is on the TV screens and streaming to the world as the way to do stuff.馃樂

@whowasthatmaskedman America is currently going through a tough patch, but overall, the USA has been an huge asset to the world, and will hopefully continue to be so.
whowasthatmaskedman70-79, M
@walabby Actually, I agree. Particularly on its past record.. And the saddest part is that there was no reason that direction could not have been maintained. But I guess its true that all empires rot out from the inside over time. As a local I am sure you will see the compare and contrast of American politics with this story. The universal ondemnation Latham is facing now..

@whowasthatmaskedman Latham has at times pretended to be reasonable, but I never liked him.
Any sympathy that I had for the way that Pauline Hanson was treated by the Liberal Party has long since evaporated.
I'm fairly comfortable with Australian politics atm...
whowasthatmaskedman70-79, M
@walabby As am I. My expectations are not high..But we are as close to middle ground as we are likely to get. The real interest will be whether Voldemort keeps the job as opposition leader long term. There is no obvious successor. But Trumpist politics has clearly not taken here, thank goodness...馃樂

@whowasthatmaskedman Yep. Donny can keep his poison on the other side of the Pacific.
whowasthatmaskedman70-79, M
@walabby Well it is funnier than Seinfeld or Friends.. But not as good as Frasier...馃樂
walabby61-69, M
@whowasthatmaskedman 4am or so AEST tomorrow morning is when it gets even funnier. Donny will be fronting the Man!

... or will that be 2.00 AM???
whowasthatmaskedman70-79, M
@walabby Either way, I will learn when I get up. I can wait.馃樂
