That’s very vague. Plenty of world leaders are problematic.

@MorbidCynic we are not all politicians. And as a collective, we really are the problem. Clearly.
@Carla even as people, I have lived in other countries. Horrible people exist everywhere. Even in a historical context, the USA isn’t even *that* bad. There are definitely worse.
@Carla in Saudi Arabia they have child marriage and women can’t drive. But yes, Americans are the problem.

@MorbidCynic And who elects the leaders??🫵
@whowasthatmaskedman actually, do you understand how a republic works? Leaders don’t get elected by just majority vote. The majority can vote for one official, but the state can still choose a different official to cast the state electoral votes for.

@MorbidCynic And who decided it was going to be a Republic?🫵
@whowasthatmaskedman people who died 200 years before I was born.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic But they were Americans.....😷
@whowasthatmaskedman what’s your point? I understand you’re reaching because you’re just an edgy Australian who likes to pretend their country is perfect while bashing Americans. Get over yourself. You’re still a joke to the rest of Europe.
@whowasthatmaskedman and they were British so
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic No.. The Constitution was written by and for Americans after Independence 1787 and ratifued in 1788. Now many of those people may have been born elsewhere as was I.
So my point stands..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman “americans” of English origin.
@whowasthatmaskedman they weren’t native to that land, bud. They’re not real Americans.
@whowasthatmaskedman if the English weren’t so desperate to conquer all the land and left those native alone, would there have been a problem? No. The root cause? British colonization.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic That kind of makes a mockery of Citizenship everywhere. Something I availed myself of.. And if that is so they how come there has never been a First Nations President??😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic Well if you are going to take that tack, I blame the Romans.."Romani ete domum!!"😷
@whowasthatmaskedman there are actually in native tribes. Have you ever tried to learn about American culture? I have lived here since I was 8, I know a bit about Poland and USA life 😉 it’s just a fact most of the people who influenced the US culture/laws were of European origin. To deny that is to deny history.
@whowasthatmaskedman history is important. It’s the reasons why the present exists 🤷‍♀️ imagine if the British left everyone alone.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic I accept that modern American culture evolved as a mongrel culture from Britain (and France) and then through successive waves of migration . Just as mine did. And further that British culture itself is another mongrel culture, evolving in a similar manner...
But Americans are still the problem..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman I really haven’t seen an explanation why. I can think of far worse governments. Right now I’m thinking of my home country of Poland and how women can’t even get abortions with medical necessity.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic There are a hit list of problems with America. Social, economic, military, you name it.. The problem with Americans is that they are almost unique in exporting their culture, values and standards to every other nation they can reach and endeavouring to impose those standards and values at every level, through policy, through trade, through defese posture and through the media.. Most of the teenage girls with access to electricity know the names Kardashian and Jenner...😷
@whowasthatmaskedman don’t blame Americans for their culture infiltrating your life. You CHOSE to let them in. Everything you consume that you don’t need is an active decision.
@whowasthatmaskedman and the expansion of American culture is not a unique concept in a historical context. Most powerful cultures have done the same.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic No. It was exported actively for profit. I choose not to consume it. But it was Americans who chose to embrace the superficial in the first place. 😷
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@MorbidCynic And there we are back at the Romans.. Interesting fact. The Lingua Franca spoken in the streets and marketplaces of Rome was Greek.. Latin was considered to be a formal high class language for the Patricians...😷
