Again, I get you have trouble reading. But the reason slave owners were paid was because in a capitalist society the elite always get a pay out with anything economic that so much as mildly inconveniences them. That was true then, and true now.

This is not complicated or unusual as much as you pretend it is.

Abolitionist movements have existed for centuries. If it was a moral decision why did it take till 1830? Your moral argument makes even less sense.
