Stopmakingsense Man, that sucks. I mean, that you lost TV for a whole year. YEs, what you did was bad. However, there was a good reason for your bad behavior. You weren't getting the support you needed either from your parents or your teacher. The way you handled it was wrong. But you shouldn't have been in that situation to begin with. So faulting you for dealing with it in an immature manner was wrong. You were a child, expressing frustration in a childish way. But you had reason to be frustrated, and that is the point that all the adults missed...
My son was caught cheating on an English assignment. Yes, I was disappointed and YES, we had a conversation that was not pleasant for either one of us. But I knew it wasn't like him, so I had to figure out why. Turns out, he just needed a little extra help keeping up with the other kids in English. I got him the help he needed. He excelled in school after that...
Or I could have taken away his computer for a year. But that wouldn't have solved the problem.
