Does anyone else think the Russian failures at the start of the war unlikely to be due to miscalculation alone?

Even if it was expected they would just capture the capitol in days, why would they have tanks without infantry support, could they really have been that stupid?

My understanding is that corruption and a poor officer corps did that. How could they send hundreds of vehicles without logistical support?

They expected Ukraine to quickly fold just at the sight of those vehicles, that's how.

Probably both.
But don't forget, in the early days of the invasion, our own state department offered to fly Zelensky out of the country, so they also misjudged the Ukrainians.
