how can the war be stopped
why isn't the west doing more to try to stop the war in Ukraine? it's terrible what's happening there, the poor innocent people and their country....what can be done when it seems Putin is hellbent on destruction and war?

Give what is being done some time to work.
No, it's not anywhere near the best situation. Yet it's the only thing that can be done for now.
They know what they are doing. And it's hard to explain the political situation in Russia. Yet it has been done before and it did work... somewhat that is.
