The State of California nor the LA police asked for nor needed any assistance from the National Guard. And they sure as hell didn't need nearly a thousand marines. This was trump trying to show everyone he is a strongman (another term for dictator). He very much presented himself as a dictator and that's exactly what MAGAts wanted to see.
