America's Democracy has plenty of problems, but the 1/6 Insurrection was an attempt at replacing our imperfect Democracy with a fascist Dictatorship.

Probably the biggest problem with the Left right now is that so many Leftists are bothsidesing the Democrats and the Republicans, instead of recognizing that while both parties are bad, the Republicans are trying to overturn Democracy. This was the mistake we made in 2016.

@MalteseFalconPunch It depends. An Insurrection to overthrow an authoritarian government would be good. But this was an attempt at overthrowing a democratic government to replace it with an authoritarian one.

@MalteseFalconPunch Well BLM didn't die off, they're just less visible since we haven't had a case where a cop killed a black guy that went viral since 2020. They had lots of attention back then because of George Floyd.
I think Liberals understand Insurrections can be good. Like if the Russians overthrew Putin and forced the government to make a Democracy, American Liberals would celebrate that. The problem is Liberals don't understand Fascism when they see it in the beginning stage. If the government were to ban the GOP from running for office, Leftists would agree with that, but Liberals would say that goes against Democracy, because they don't understand that Trumpism is a form of Fascism. Liberals won't understand this until we literally have a Dictatorship and concentration camps are being built for LGBT people.

@MalteseFalconPunch Yeah, people only care about something when it happens recently. It's the same thing with mass shootings. One happens, everyone mourns, we forget about it, then another one happens, and it's like oh that's right, we still have this problem.

Yeah, it's almost become a meme. Liberals always say it can't happen here. And really, the way they talk about how homophobia and transphobia are bad, but it won't lead to mass murder, it's literally exactly like how Liberals talked in Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. As Nazis and Fascists were talking about eliminating the "enemies of the state," Liberals were disagreeing but shrugging it off.
Now we have a party whose central platform is that queer people are coming for your children. 😣

But no, I think it's good that the media is recognizing this as an anti-democratic Insurrection. We can fix our Democracy, we can eliminate the electoral college and such, without totally overturning the system. We should be pushing our Democracy forward, not going against it, since the other direction is Fascism.
