The need to reform the nuclear weapons launch approval process

from The Union of Concerned Scientists:

"No one person, not even a president, should be given the sole authority to start a nuclear war, which could lead to the immediate death of millions. The existing system invests the president, no matter how capable or how reckless and impulsive, with such devastating power.

“We urge the president-elect to change this policy as quickly as possible... to require that two other elected officials in the line of succession concur with a presidential order to use nuclear weapons before the military carries out an attack and unleashes a nuclear war."

@sunsporter1649 If the nukes go off we are all blown to hell. So I think requiring at least 3 senior government officers is a sane idea. As for the Chinese and Russians, perhaps their protocals require multiple persons to concur before they push the button. They don't want to be incinerated either.

FYI the only Arab country that has nukes is Pakistan, which is an ally of the U.S.

Nuclear war means mutually assured destruction = MAD. No winning with nukes, only death .
Disarmament is always possible. Murka is a piece of work.
