Yes. For years we tried to get them to join. Now that they have applied for membership we should grant it. Immediately. Whether Putin likes it or not.

@Ferise1 apparently the OP didn't think so. You're entitled to your opinion.

@Ferise1 a buffer zone against what?
@Ferise1 buffer zone?

Russian is literally just a few miles from America . Roughly 2 miles .

Where’s the buffer zone?

And if Ukraine becomes part of Russia then Poland is on their border.

Are you seriously intellectually damaged?

@Ryderbike the neurotic kleptocrat putin used ‘less NATO’ as one of his specious reasons for launching his genocidal war.
He now has a lot more NATO and will soon have a much smaller barbarian empire.
He isn’t exactly a strategic genius! 😂
@newjaninev2 He is fighting the last COLD War, so his geopolitics are out of date...leave it to Russia to be behind the West yet again.

@Ryderbike more of a kremlin directed troll I think.

@SomeMichGuy Yes, he is neurotically living in the past. It’s notable that his two allies Iran and North Korea are also neurotically living in the past. All three are pursuing a world that hasn’t existed for decades

@Ferise1
Russia has the right to a buffer zone! You created this war!!!
In that case, then Poland has a right to a buffer zone. Perhaps they should take Belarus.
@Ryderbike

Yes! The Diomede Islands, right between the Eastern Russian mainland and the Western Alaskan shore, are divided, with the larger island ("Big Diomede Island") being owned by Russia and the smaller (...you figure it out! 😉) being owned by the US. They are about 2.4 mi apart and their ownership (and boundary) was established by Seward's Folly...

And because that border is halfway between them, the US and Russia actually touch, in that region.

(Images from Apple maps.)

The distance between the continental land masses is different (about 50 mi; see https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bering_Strait_crossing).
@Ryderbike And thanks for pointing this out!

@SomeMichGuy

It's also where a woman literally swam from the United States to Russia many years ago.

And, contrary to the naysayers, shows Sarah Palin was absolutely correct when she said you can see Russia from Alaska.
@beckyromero Yes, but her SNL recreator/impersonator says it with such fine dumb-assed-ness...
