Discontent lays the kindling for them. Hate lights them. Ignorance stokes them.
When enough people blow on them, they become dangerous.

@Carla The word has been weaponized to provoke fear and dismiss those who don't go along with popular narratives.
Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster you mean those that get their own narratives from youtube, etc.? I can make up a good story today, a salacious one, and have thousands believing it in a week. Good conspiracy theories are money makers. Look at alex jones.
There is no fear provoked. More like pity and sadness.
Myself and most that i know feel a profound sadness that we gave our countrymen cedit for being maybe not on the same page, but at least chapters from the same book.

They all speak as one. The maggots, er, the MAGAts I mean, all say the same things the same way - with bitterness and rage. Trump can spot a fool a mile away and he knows how to milk money and adoration from each and every one of the poor souls.

@Carla No, I mean those that choose not to go along with popular narratives because they have researched the issue and have developed different viewpoints on the issue.
Again, it's pretty obvious to see who is indoctrinated on this term and who isn't.

@SumKindaMunster research? You mean you listen to and believe one "expert" that ignores facts and refutes what thousands of their colleagues profess?
What most conspiracy theorists do isn't so much research as it is purposefully going deep into exitless rabbit holes.
Never looking to prove anthing but their baseless theories.

@Carla Uh huh you mean baseless "conspiracy theories" like Trump being a Russian asset, or the zoological origin of Covid 19?
You really believing that the Ukranians blew up the Nord Stream 2?

Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster trump was, and is a russian asset. Abeit not consciously.
Do you know where covid came from? I don't.
Do you know who blew up nord stream 2? I do not.
You can guess or theroize, but you don't know.

You're talking to someone I blocked earlier. I went offline to see who you were talking to. I'm too old to allow gasbags to ruin my day.

@SW-User they have long lost that power over me.
I did however, block ole bud a year or so ago. Not because he ruined any days, but because i didn't want for him to think it fun to fuck with me. Which he did for years.

@Carla Nailed it.
And also they want to think they are in some elite group and are smarter than Einstein, lol. It's also about ego and feeling like they are in control. It can bleed over into paranoid ideation. Delusions too.

Let me get this straight...you believe Trump is a Russian "asset" but he doesn't know it? How does that work? Hypnotism? 🤣
I don't, but I am CURIOUS to know who did, and my critical thinking skills prevent me from believing it was the Ukrainians acting unilaterally.

Well I think its pretty obvious it didn't come from the Wuhan wet markets. You still believe that? It was zoological in origin? Do you know who blew up nord stream 2? I do not.

@SumKindaMunster some think people that applying cui bono or bring up conflicts of interest are cwazy conspiracy theorists. Its an internal protection method imo
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@gol979 Indeed. I liken it to a totem, a word people use to ward off that which they don't understand. It's easy and comforting to assume everyone who doesn't go along with the official narrative is a "conspiracy theorist". It makes it easier to dismiss such people and ideas and prevent one from having to contemplate the messiness and uncomfortable feelings that the truth might bring up.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@SumKindaMunster decent analogy
