I believe "The Nazi Regime" proved that live human experiments advances medicine far quicker than any other method. Provided, of course, you have live subjects that are disposable.
@calicuz The U. S. Government may/ may not not have benefitted from such experiments conducted on both civilians and military POWs by both Germans and Japanese military and medical personnel. Dr. Ishii commander of Camp 731 in China was spared being executed for the results of horrific experiments that were conducted at the camp and documented. That information was amassed and for whatever reasons was not destroyed by the Japanese. He was not executed and that amassed data was given to the U. S. Military.
