Should the news be allowed to lie?

And then again, whom gets to determine what is or isn't a lie?

I hate that "news" has the power to lie, as it spreads the lies.... then again, in Russia, they're not allowed to lie, but it's the Kremlin getting to decide what is and isn't a lie, and seen the Kremlin is lying and wants lies, the reality is because of the no lying rule, and a lying enforcer, the news can't tell the truth.

It's a catch 22, you're screwed either way...

So I guess the question if which do you trust more... the government to always tell the truth (nope) or the people to be able to differentiate between the truth and a lie (nope... but at least 35% will probably be able to figure it out).

@TryingtoLava The First Amendment gives leftist liars the right to lie. We certainly don't want the government deciding what's a lie and what's not.

@CactusJackManson Nope, that's a lie...

It gives every American the same rights... not just one group.
@CactusJackManson im not a lier but ima leftist :) like its simple nobody should lie
Viper · M
@TryingtoLava Yes, but then whom gets to determine what is or isn't a lie then?

There is no fair and unbiased method for carrying it out.
@Viper omfff its sooo simple a lie is a lie idk why thats complicated

@TryingtoLava Well, isn't that Pollyannish? But they do. And it's not up to the government to decide who's lying and who's not.

@Viper I'm simply pointing out that leftists are easily more disposed to lie.
Viper · M
@TryingtoLava Because you got two different groups disagreeing what statement is a lie.
Viper · M
@CactusJackManson You've made your point, now stop trying to stir the pot on my post, thank you
CactusJackManson · 51-55, M
@Viper I'm not stirring the pot, simply stating my POV.
@CactusJackManson who doesnt like pollyanna?
@Viper i mean your truth is your truth and it could be diff than mine but i get it ig
Viper · M
@CactusJackManson Well, you could of stayed your point of view by responding directly to the question, instead of directly at a person in the group you're attacking... which basically an example of you clearly stirring the pot.

Also it's kind of interesting you can attack others for lying, but you get all sensitive if someone calls you out for your pot stirring. Seems like you can fish it, but not take it.
@Viper o dont worry hes not attacking me sylvester is my friend :) but thats very sweet <3
Viper · M
@TryingtoLava so you're saying it's all good as long as it's your believe?
@Viper hahah noooo cuz that means nazis are all good! Ig im sayin if your truth doesnt hurt anebody im okay with it
Viper · M
@TryingtoLava I just don't like how people just straight up go after others, like that whole group is a lying...

Especially when it's at someone that's I'm that group.

Take the lies about the vaccine as an example. All those lies the media told us were lies were found to be true. You have to do your own research. See who sounds credible, and who doesn’t. See who makes money or gains power by a certain narrative, then decide for yourself. Same with Hunter Biden. We were told it was a Russian conspiracy, and that was lies. @TryingtoLava
