Has Anyone Else Noticed This Recently?

The price of eggs has doubled in price where I live. And the size of LARGE eggs has gone down as well. They are about the same size as MEDIUM eggs were before.

a While ago we had an outbreak of avian flu and the prices of eggs went up and some poultry farms aound here closed their doors. We had very limited stock. Supermarkets sell small eggs and label them as extra large without blushing. It's an every day thing and it grinds my gears.

@ammelee There is a truck driver named Eli Yoder who posts videos on You Tube. He said when they go to make a haul they aren’t told what is inside the trailer. If they are full of cases of eggs and left unsecured inside of the trailer and they slip and fall over during transport and break the entire contents of the trailer is discarded. Makes me want to scream with that type of waste. He said that is just one reason why eggs are overpriced now. No telling how often it happens. And I heard someone when I was working at Walmart say if they get a big case of eggs and any of them are broken they throw the entire case of eggs away, they won’t pick out the individual cartons that are good and stock them. They just write it off as a tax write-off instead of doing that or donating them to a pantry or charity meal place.
@cherokeepatti I hate waste
I'll still use a cracked egg if the inner "skin" is still in tact

@ammelee Same. One time my uncle was working as a receiving clerk for a local grocery store. The man who delivered the eggs for the store had a case that had gotten dropped and some of the eggs were broken. It made a bit of a mess for the rest of the cartons of eggs that weren’t broken. He told my uncle he could have the eggs if he wanted to take them. He brought them home and we carefully separated the unbroken ones and the lightly cracked ones. The broken ones were put together and scrambled for the dogs to eat.
