What is no longer worth it because of how expensive it has become?

The weekly movies at theaters. I saw one too many loser movies and decided it wasn’t worth my money to gamble on finding movies that I actually wanted to sit through. The price of snacks & drinks is exorbitant as well.

@cherokeepatti I go to the old folks theater for 6.00. their snacks are even cheaper. To go to a regular theater, the popcorn costs 14.00

@akindheart whoa $14 popcorn. I’ve always liked popcorn because it was probably the lowest-priced snack to make at home. I wouldn’t dream of paying $14 for a box of popcorn.

@akindheart too expensive for me anyway.

@Mikla i went into shell shock when i bought a diet coke.

@akindheart Once upon a time, I would go to a movie theater just for popcorn. I would walk in and walk out with my tub. There were a few you didn't need a ticket to access the refreshments.

@Mikla my friend used to make it for the driveins. they would pop large batches and put them in clean garbage bags...i have to have salt and butter on mine.

@akindheart that was a great idea, we didn’t buy food at the drive-ins. I don’t even think we brought snacks. When we’d go to the restroom past the concession stand at intermission time my mouth would be watering from the smell of the foods that they re selling there.

@cherokeepatti what i was trying to say is that the popcorn was not fresh at the drivein. they made it, put it in garbage bags and then put them in the popper to warm up!

@akindheart oh OK. They did the same for the football game days at the university. I remember some workers coming into the office before clock-out time carrying a bag of popcorn to snack on, they’d been working helping get the stadium ready all week before the game and told me the concession people were making popcorn starting on Monday before the game & bagging it up. There was no way they could have made it all on game day.
