What is no longer worth it because of how expensive it has become?

cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
The weekly movies at theaters. I saw one too many loser movies and decided it wasn’t worth my money to gamble on finding movies that I actually wanted to sit through. The price of snacks & drinks is exorbitant as well.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart that was a great idea, we didn’t buy food at the drive-ins. I don’t even think we brought snacks. When we’d go to the restroom past the concession stand at intermission time my mouth would be watering from the smell of the foods that they re selling there.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti what i was trying to say is that the popcorn was not fresh at the drivein. they made it, put it in garbage bags and then put them in the popper to warm up!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart oh OK. They did the same for the football game days at the university. I remember some workers coming into the office before clock-out time carrying a bag of popcorn to snack on, they’d been working helping get the stadium ready all week before the game and told me the concession people were making popcorn starting on Monday before the game & bagging it up. There was no way they could have made it all on game day.
Cheetos. But I’m glad they got so pricey because I’m really not supposed to be eating those. And I had a lot before they became over $5 a bag. 🤭
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Not sure what you mean. If I decide they aren’t worth the current cost, why would I turn to crime to get them?
@Colonelmustardseed If you turn to crime, that's free money that you can spend on Cheetos. Plus you get a chance of free room and board in state prison. Win-win! 🤣
@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays They’re not that good.
@eventtemple123 you mean you'd prefer to be homeless with current housing prices? If not, housing is still worth the costs, although it's certainly getting ridiculously expensive.

Hookers. ( I couldn't resist that one).

@FrogManSometimesLooksBothWays Thank you very much.
@Nitedoc It was clever.

Cable television. Then again, i don't think that has been a good value for a couple of decades. Concert tickets.
Musicman · 61-69, M
Traveling. The cost of diesel is just so expensive. That's why we only take short trips close to home.
Theme parks, movie theaters

Almost everything is not worth these days. That's how God works. He'll destroy the old system as it becomes trash...

And then He'll restore things that are worth it.

Almost like Heaven. Be aware though,,,,those moments don't last long.

Restaurants
Movies. Eating out. Vending machines. Convenience stores.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Mamapolo2016 It’s rare I go to a convenience store. I used to go at least a couple times a week for fountain drinks etc. That’s just money frittered down the drain.
@cherokeepatti Yep. Uncharacteristically, I now plan ahead.

Travel.
Attending a sporting event.

Probably a long list
@SStarfish Like there was ever a time when Netlix was worth it? Seriously? Netflix? 🤣

@SStarfish Wise decision.

If you really need it, or want it, it'll be worth it!
sree251 · 41-45, M
Being alive is no longer worth it. Coming into this world is too expensive. Hospital bill for delivering a baby is $50,000.
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Tetsuya The 50k figure was the tab a woman told me her hospital charges came to. I don't think she was lying. A couple who were hospitalized for 2 weeks for Covid said their hospital charges came up to $250,000. Why would they lie? Insurance picked up the tab also.
Tetsuya · 51-55, M
@sree251 I am sure your friend could have been charged those prices but that is outside the norm
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Tetsuya Once we are born, we need an education for earning a livelihood. This is another big chunk of cash. A bachelor's degree won't get you anywhere. You need a masters. Then, you need a roof over your head. Getting a job is dicey. Keeping it till you pay off your debts is not a sure thing. Is life worth living?
akindheart · 61-69, F
getting my manis and pedis. it is now 60 plus a tip here
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Nitedoc i have never been a big fan of manis and pedis. always did my own but with the price increase, i am more than determined to do my own.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
@akindheart Oh, I gotcha.
elafina · 36-40, F
@akindheart possibly you could find a freelancer that is doing it at her home with half the price? Well back home that's what people were doing..

Nights out with friends. We'd meet in the pub then go for a curry and finally back to the pub for last orders, once every 3-4 weeks. The cost has more than doubled so we only meet for a drink or two in the pub now
Ice cream. Homemake banana ice cream is a great inexpensive alternative to regular ice cream.
