My favourite kind of history
I love seeing random quirky objects that represent a glimpse into the life of a person. That's far more interesting to me than the documentation of big events.
Today I visited an awesome museum and a stately home. There were cases full of random, quirky curiosities. Things like the wax seals saved from letters. I wondered why they had been saved and what was written in the letters.
And this bullet that was found in an old oak tree, saved with a hand written note. I wonder what the person who wrote this would think if he knew that one day, it would be displayed in a museum.
Or this little horse that's been made from a conker and some dress making pins. It meant something at the time, a heartfelt gift from a child maybe.
