Charles II proclaimed King of Scotland, on the 5th of February, 1650.
On February 5th, 1782, Spanish forces successfully reclaimed the island of Minorca from British control. This victory was part of Spain’s efforts to regain territories lost during previous conflicts, particularly the Seven Years’ War.
1811 The Regency Act was passed in Britain, allowing Prince George of Wales to rule because his father, King George III, was considered insane. He later became George IV.

1971: Apollo 14 Astronauts Alan Shepard and Edgar Mitchell landed on the Moon. Shepard famously hit two golf balls on the lunar surface.

They are greeted by some 5,000 enthusiastic fans before boarding the 'Daily Mail Rock & Roll Special' train for London for the opening concert of their UK tour – the first visit by an American rock 'n' roll band.
1967: A News of the World splash "Pop Stars and Drugs – Facts that Will Shock You" reports that Rolling Stone Mick Jagger is hooked on various drugs. Jagger slaps on a defamation law suit but will be overtaken by events when the police raid Keith Richards house on 12th February.
