Blah blah blah blah..
Hyping up women about the perks of being taken care of by men is a perfect way to raise greedy, selfish, and self centered girls, only for them to realize later in life that it wasn’t worth it. That all those advantages could just as easily be given to someone else.. That something was missing. And that it wasn’t nearly as fulfilling as it once seemed.
Shallow and short-lived are two brothers who never part ways.
Generally, when we humans act on our own greed or selfishness, we become even more vulnerable to being victimized. Why? It’s a cognitive bias , a tunnel vision and the paradox of hedonism...We become so focused on getting what we want that we fail to see the contract we’ve signed, often unwittingly. Whether through emotional manipulation or financial schemes, the myopic pursuit of gain blinds us to the hidden obligations we’re accumulating.
If there were even a bit of acknowledgment of this role in creating these dynamics, maybe there’d be a better chance at reversing the damage. But after years of being conditioned to stay passive, any hint of personal responsibility feels like chasing a ghost. And sometimes you can only see ghosts if you're soon to join them. And by then, it is a -good-for-nothing realization.
Painting is Ary Scheffer's. Faust and Mephistopheles (1848).
