Who is your favorite historical person from your country and why?

Gordon Lightfoot. I remember seeing him on TV sometime in the 80s where he says he's not a politician and doesn't have the experience or training to comment on such things. And here I am thinking, Who is this guy? Isn't he from a generation w/all the answers???
