The original burned in 1991 and was reconstructed using tools and technique that the original bridge builders used in 1873.
Even though it's a reconstruction, all the hand made craftsmanship of another age is there. An age when plastic extruded furniture and particle board were still a distant nightmare.
I love history as well as the nostalgia of covered bridges, so I understand your intrigue. A beautiful one, it is, so such a noble deed was done to restore it. What I like about this story the most though, is that they used the same tools and techniques from the days of old. That makes it all the more meaningful, imho.💝
@MoonlightLullaby we look at the buildings and the structures of the past and we marvel at the craftsmanship and artistry that went into them. I don't know why this changed. Take a Victorian house and put it next to a 21st century McMansion. Take the Empire State building and put it next to a generic glass and steel tower. There's no comparison.
