@scrood well during McCarthyism, people were blacklisted and lives were ruined. Guilt by association. The insurrectionists are on camera beating cops, erecting a gallows, etc. I dont see see an apples to apples comparison. The reason Arthur Miller wrote “The Crucible”. There was a direct comparison between the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy Hearings.

@JonLosAngeles66 Bait and sinker -- the "big lie" is an armed insurrection which they wanted to use to convict and/or disqualify Trump from running in 2024 which is all the media can talk about more fake news

@JonLosAngeles66 No Pelosi refuses to release the tapes of police opening doors and ushering inside while the FBI refuses to admit how many of their agents were in the crowds -- no traitors, no indefinite detention of American citizens, no loyalty oaths, only conspiracy was refusal to accept Trump's offer of National Guard to secure the Capitol?

@scrood by the way I neither identify as a conservative or a Democrat. But yes, Pelosi’s rhetoric of getting a list of anyone ever involved with Trump is a lot more similar to McCarthysm. I don’t remember McCarthy storming the capital hill. Because I like to assume that anyone I come into contact with is an intelligent, informed person the only way I can see people making posts like this is for the purpose of trolling the other side by pushing blatantly ridiculously things or accusing them of what they openly do. Or, they really don’t know what they are talking about, and want attention in a society that is focused on politics and so make posts with the logic ‘I think this person is a bad guy, so they are also similar to this other person I think is a bad guy’. Like the whole ‘anyone who ever disagrees on anything with me is literally Hitler’ as if there is this grand nazi conspiracy across culture and time, and denying communists ever did anything wrong, whilst accusing everyone else of being conspiracy theorists’
