Islam and the third crusade 🌿💗

during the third crusade :
King Saladin vs Richard the first of England (with aid of king Philip second of france )
Richards army came to take Jerusalem but he couldn’t beat the Muslims and were exhausted therefore king Richard asked for help from king Saladin (who he initially came to fight ! ) and Saladin gladly sent them medical help and food!
Not even that but Saladin allowed Richard to retreat safely , conducted a peace treaty , and allowed Christians who are not citizens of Saladin’s kingdom even from Richard's kingdom to enter and leave safely on their Christian pilgrimage to their holy Jerusalem.

when we look at history, especially that of the companions of prophet Mohammed and of those Muslim generals closer to Mohammed’s time we see the real Islam and it’s tolerance , intelligence , and discipline.
Not that of intolerance , extremism, and chaos

Saladin showed mercy, and compassion towards his enemies.
Did he get that in return from the Europeans? I doubt it.

The people of Medina May disagree .
The prophet was a complicated man for sure .
I don’t agree with how some people judge him based on 2022 morality .
@AthrillatheHunt

Mohammed was known as
“The trustworthy the truthful “
By almost all of the people of Mecca.
To illustrate this,
the first time ever he preached Islam
After he gathered the people He started with :
——
“If I told you that horsemen were advancing to attack you from the valley on the other side of this mountain, will you believe me?”. “Yes”, they replied, “We have always found you truthful.”
And then he started to preach the oneness of God
—-
So Even before Islam , with the testimony of non Muslims who a lot of them still died as non Muslims he was known to them as truthful and liked.

during his time preaching in Mecca the main thing Mohamed did was call for the belief in one God
(Most of the other Islamic teachings came later so they literally didn’t even have anything factual to disagree with with Mohammed except his monotheistic theology so by logic the people of medina should have had more opposition to Mohammed than people of Mecca )
so why did the people of Mecca strongly oppose him? Why wasn’t it vice versa ?
It was Mostly arrogance from their part
And Also because they didn’t want to remove the idols that surrounded the Kaaba 🕋
Because that was their source of income.
Kaaba was a safe area
So pagans entrusted their idols to the meccans tribes (mainly quraish ) to protect them from harm and the meccans agreed in exchange for money.
So the reasons were mostly and purely arrogance and greed.
Of course not generally but on the large scale.
Today a lot of people still reject Islam based on those same two reasons
Either arrogance /racism or greed
