Isn't it wild that ancient peoples worshiped serpents?
This was worldwide, too, not just in a specific region. 🐍🐉Like who were these serpents, and why were they so revered? 🤔

Part of it can be explained in the fact that serpents are very different form other animals we see regularly that have characteristics similar to ourselves, particularly legs. Humans tend to more easily identify with things that are similar, so something so different will spark interest, and fear. Many serpent tales and beliefs are intended to inspire respect and fear, and can be used as a tool to create harmony and balance in a chaotic universe. The serpent also can signify cyclical time, eternity etc.

In Genenis (Bible) the one who seduces the humans to rebel against God is a serpent, namely the satan. It's actually a scary thought that people worldwide worshiped serpents if you look at it like that. 😨

@Classified or perhaps the new religion (Christianity) wanted to purposely demonize serpents because they wanted the people to worship THEIR god instead.

@DearAmbellina2113 Actually Genesis is from the pre-Christian times already, but that doesn't change your statement much. Guess it's a matter of what one believes.
