ANOTHER FORGOTTEN SCOTTISH INVENTOR [I Love History]

Like Bain and Watson-Watt, John Napier is another Scottish inventor that history has often forgotten.
Napier lived at Merchiston, then just outside, and now inside, Edinburgh, and was the man who invented Logarithms - Napier's Bones as they were known. As he lived in the late 16th and early 17th century, there were dark stories that he was a wizard- but personally I think he merely wanted to torture generations of school children with his invention.[image deleted]

@SW-User I agree! I remember toiling and sweating over logs when I was at school, and hating every minute.

@helensusanswift I think I still have a log tables book somewhere, never really knew what to do with it.

Thanks for BC.

@SW-User What to do with it? BURN it!
When my brother came home from the army, he said he was going to buy a rifle and hang it on the wall.
"What for?" Asked his wife, who knew how much he had hated the army.
"So every day I can pass it and say: RUST you b*****. RUST!"
Same thing with log tables.
