Odd that they'd be on in bright sunlight though, especially as each unit usually has it's own light detector.

Maybe it works differently over there and they have a guy flip a switch when it's too dark to read his paper.

@Whodunnit Here where I am they're automated and they often f*ck up like that. I think all it takes is a single seagull to drop a bomb on the sensor, for them to stay on 24/7 until someone cleans it. 🥴

@Whodunnit I was just commenting that about the LED flood lights outside our hotel this morning…broad daylight but still on seems like a power waste

@Zaphod42 Well if it's solar powered and they don't have batteries to store the excess energy they might as well keep it on all the time

Not sure about the solar…it would make sense, but I didn’t see any panels around them @Elessar
