"Wheel Of Fortune" Announcer Jim Thornton Recently Fired

This is known in TV as a "slate". It precedes the show, usually after the "color bars and tone" but before the program begins. It's a way to identify the show number, air date, sometimes audio information. I snapped this for fun one day at work.

There's usually no audio, but on WOF Jim used to read the information on the screen, sometimes in his announcer voice, sometimes in a silly accent.

With his recent behavior coming to light, videos like this now seem really creepy:

I used to, back in the day, at least up until the mid-to-late 2010's, watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy back-to-back.

The last time I watched them was when the time that James Holzhauer was the returning champion on Jeopardy.

After his last appearence on the show, I stopped watching altogether.

I read the whole story and according to that, there was a misunderstanding and the authorities made no arrest.
