my problem with getting "news" from social media is that its usually one person's problem and then they try to say its a problem for EVERYONE

You just summed up every reason why the world is split up between internet people and people who can actually exist and experience tbe real world

And that is why we must take what we see on social media with a grain of salt. When we see someone announce something, we must be our own fact checkers. See who else is saying it. See if someone has a different point of view.

That is why, for all its warts, Facebook is a useful tool for learning things. When one finds an article of interest (e.g., the latest debacle with Boy George releasing a pro-Israel song denying any wrongdoing on the part of Prime Minister Netanyahu), it is advisable to open the article. Interact with the article. Read the comments under the article. Reply to the other users commenting on the article.

Suddenly, as if by magic, you will discover other articles on the same topic. Some of them will tell the story from the same perspective. Some will tell the story from a different perspective. In the case of the aforementioned Boy George, some of the articles are calling him courageous and some are calling him what he is.
