It gets better.
Last month, Trump signed an executive order invoking the Defense Production Act to boost domestic production of glyphosate (the key ingredient in Bayer's Roundup) and phosphorus, classifying them as essential to national security and food supply.
The move shields Bayer from liability regarding these products.
Bayer is going in front of SCOTUS next month, to try to reach a one-time deal, to establish a $7.5B fund for alleged victims of Roundup. Bayer bought Roundup as part of his deal to Acquire Monsanto and along it acquired the only mine producing phosphate in the US (Soda Springs, Idaho).
Simultaneously, Trump filed a brief supporting the Bayer side with SCOTUS.
Why? Because he wants to replenish the US phosphorus shells, for use against "cartels" as he pushes North/Central/South Americans to use their militaries and allow us to use ours.
Agent Orange anyone?
The Bayer SCOTUS case is structured about the same as the Tobacco industry settlement, that shielded the Tobacco industry from further action. As in: from this point on, if you choose tobacco, Marlboro is not responsible, so if you choose Roundup, Bayer is not responsible, and the plaintiff share in the $7.5B fund.
