"The Washington Times"

Just about anyone familiar with "The Washington Times" (not "the Post") would call it a conservative paper.

And yet, here is their story about the Hegseth speech to the generals:

‘He lost us’: Generals, senior officers say trust in Hegseth has evaporated
Secretary's critics worry Pentagon at risk of enduring damage amid firings, resignations and early retirements of high-ranking staff

He's cleaning house. Of course they don't like it. The FATTIES, particularly the older fatties, don't want to have to become physically fit, or do push ups, either.

@4meAndyou I trust their assessment over that of a former news anchor who was chosen for the job simply because Trump liked how he looked on TV.

Hegseth, in that speech, was trying to prepare the generals for obeying unconstitutional orders to attack civilian targets. And that terrifies me. Trump's plan is to call all Democratic cities "war-torn", send in troops to foment unrest, and then invoke the War Powers act. I am terrified at the possibility of witnessing the death of the United States of America at Trump's hands.

And so I am so relieved to hear that our military leadership sees through Hegseth. And I hope that the seven million patriotic Americans who took part in last weekend's protests will give courage to people in power to choose the constitution over our insurrectionist-in-chief!

It's not cleaning house. It's an attempted ideological purge. He has a congress who will bow to him. He has a Supreme court that will bow to him. All he needs now is the military, and he can become a dictator. The fate of the nation is at stake!

And I don't give a damn about whether a general can do pushups.

@DrWatson Wow. You are really angry about it! I didn't realize.

Well, Pete Hegseth was a Captain and served during both Iraq and Afghanistan. He is now Secretary of the Department of War because he and Trump have identical visions for what our military should be.

IMO, his ability to speak publicly is a plus...and he did learn that while working for FOX news. Here is a decent synopsis of his speech:

"Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made his speech to generals and admirals mandatory viewing for the military.

A recent memo orders all personnel to watch the speech or review the transcript by October 31.

The speech highlighted issues like physical fitness, eliminating wokeness, and grooming standards."

US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has made his recent speech to top military leaders on the "warrior ethos" mandatory for all American military personnel, according to a recently issued Department of Defense memo.

Hegseth's speech, delivered to hundreds of generals and admirals at a massive gathering late last month at Marine Corps Base Quantico, highlighted major cultural shifts in the Pentagon, including updated fitness and grooming standards.

"Foolish and reckless political leaders set the wrong compass heading and we lost our way. We became the woke department. But not anymore," he said, outlining his expectations ahead of an address from President Donald Trump that touched on a wide range of topics, including "ugly" ships and the possible return of the battleship.

According to an October 6 memo, which surfaced online and a Pentagon official indicated is real, Hegseth has ordered that "leaders at every level will ensure all personnel will either watch the full recording or read the official transcript of the speech" and review the policy changes for the department no later than October 31.

Hegseth said in the department memo that "leaders at echelon must inculcate our cultural shift and ensure every member of the Department of War understands my guidance." The memo includes a link to the transcript and video recording of the secretary's speech, as well as a larger list of 11 memorandums issued by Hegseth on September 30.

"The Secretary's speech was for the whole force," a Department of Defense official told Business Insider. "This memo just reinforces that guidance." The memo was first reviewed and reported by CNN.

The 11 directives focus on a variety of topics, including consolidating or completely getting rid of mandatory trainings that don't have to do with warfighting and enforcing updated physical fitness and grooming guidelines.

In his speech last month, for which Hegseth ordered 800 generals and admirals to Quantico for an irregular summit, the secretary told leaders the military would "restore a ruthless, dispassionate, and common sense application of standards" and would no longer tolerate "beardos" as "the era of rampant and ridiculous shaving profiles is done."

If troops want beards, he added, they'd need to join special operations forces.

Hegseth also ordered mandatory daily physical training and twice-yearly fitness tests. "It's tiring to look out at combat formations, or really any formation, and see fat troops," said Hegseth. "Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals in the Pentagon and leading commands around the country and the world."

There were also orders on upholding male standards for combat roles, reforming military equal opportunity, and reviewing the rules on hazing, bullying, and harassment, among other directives.

The Quantico speech highlighted just some of the secretary's and other Pentagon leadership's priorities under the second Trump administration. Other changes in the department have included the ending of diversity, equity, and inclusion policies and trainings and the elimination of anything that is not directly tied to what DoD officials consider to be lethality and warfighting.

Hegseth's speech was a high-profile showcase of these policies, as well as his approach to implementing these changes.

"If the words I'm speaking today are making your heart sink," Hegseth said, "then you should do the honorable thing and resign."

Now THIS is an actual copy of his speech, which was printed by MSN. a leftie news source.

This is a Secretary of War who will return our military to what it USED to be in the past, when the military was fit to fight.

There was nothing in his speech about the things you seem to fear. I am surprised, quite honestly that you seem a bit...over the top in your reaction.

@DrWatson There are constant riots in democrat cities. Remember the summer of love in portland? How many people were gunned down by Antifa? The governor set up an insurrection and got away with it. How many businesses were destroyed and or just forced to leave by armed lunatics? Its time for this to stop. Any governor that supports antifa or violence in their state should be arrested and tried for Insurrection, and treason.
All democrats are pro war and want to keep the fights up over seas because they get paid millions to support these wars.
It stops here and Now!

Notice none of these hysterical ninnies mention the National Guard on Memphis? Did I miss Tennesee turning blue? 🤔

@Thrust Be nice. He is an old friend of mine! You can disagree...even argue...and still be nice.

Ten foot fences with razor wire on top should surround blue sanctuary cities with national guard outside the fence authorized to let anyone in and no one out. The residents and whoever can use Amazon, DoorDash by air and similar delivery services they need and work with themselves in addition to that. Whatever Federal and state funds they currently get be frozen at current $ person NOT including illegal aliens.
