Dems Overperform in Special Congressional Election....Again

Democrat Adelita Grigalva won Arizona's open 7th District Congressional seat over Republican Daniel Butiereiz by 40 points. Kamala Harris won this district in 2024 by 22 points.

This is another indication that if Donald Trump cannot stop the midterms from happening or at least rig enough districts the Republicans will be swept away in the Lower House next year.

I'm afraid that's wishful thinking. Even without the gerrymandering, it's likely the Republicans will hold onto their majority, although it might be narrowed somewhat.

If you look at past elections for that district that is not even a little bit surprising. Been a couple of elections in the last decade where Democrats won by over 50%. Not exactly a bellwether district.

You'd thought they would have learned after kamala lol.
Well, the population isn't very bright, but they're also not especially anti genocide or inclined to let the planet survive them!
Go uniparty. Get this over with!

@MethDozer This has nothing to do with polling this was an election. Taken alone it does't mean much. But this year the Dems have flipped 3 State Senate seats by double digits and outperformed expectations in this one. The three flipped seats were all in districts won handily by trump in '24. The one in Iowa broke a Republican Senate supermajority that they held for decades. They spent a lot of money and resources trying to hold this seat but failed badly.
