It seems very unusual the shooter fired once and then immediately left, no second shot, no shots into the crowd

Many who are well experienced marksmen have said that it wasn't that difficult of a shot.
They do say that the target was likely the head, but the shell dropped over the distance and entered the neck.

Take that as you so choose.

It seems this was premeditated and intended for a single target.
