is it understandable to feel concerned about this

i just saw on bbc news earlier that applications and people seeking asylum in the uk has risen this year? i mean i'm astounded really, this country is full, we can't take anymore in, heck we need to send many people back as it's a huge strain on our system...and i couldn't help but feel annoyed and fearful of seeing that news report.

do you think we can take more people in? is anyone else worried about this?

The number of asylum applications is increasing because the government's commitment to reducing "illegal immigration" includes speeding up the processing of legal applications. Offering asylum is a legal obligation incumbent upon every state. Per capita, the UK has one of the lowest rates of irregular migration in Europe.

Am I worried? No, because there is a declining birth rate in the UK and a rapidly ageing population which will need to be cared for. I will be worried when population starts to decline.
