It's absolutely true! The last time a tsunami hit the west coast of North America, my parent's basement flooded because they live in the Great Lakes Region of Canada! I remember it well.. it was terrible... for 40 days and 40 nights, water lying everywhere and then this big boat showed up filled with house pets with some hippie guy driving it, asking if anyone wanted a lift anywhere?
