25 Million Naturalized Citizens In Jeopardy Now Under Trump Deportation Plan

DENATURALIZATION: The Department of Justice in a memo laid out new guidelines encouraging its attorneys to seek to strip U.S. citizenship from those who have naturalized if they have committed various crimes. But the memo lists a number of other qualifying crimes, adding that attorneys can prioritize denaturalization even for those who are facing “pending criminal charges” that have not yet secured a conviction. The directive poses a risk to the nearly 25 million naturalized U.S. citizens, according to 2023 data.

“The provision is so vague that it would permit the Division to denaturalize for just about anything. It could be something prior to or following naturalization,” Joyce Vance, a law professor and former U.S. attorney appointed by former President Obama, wrote on her blog. “All are now vulnerable to the vagaries of an administration that has shown a preference for deporting people without due process and dealing with questions that come up after the fact and with a dismissive tone.”

I could google this, but i will ask...
With scotus being out till october, can trump disappear whomever he chooses at will? Seems this could be so.
Northwest · M
@Carla He's done that already, and used it to test the limit of his power and what SOCUTS lets him get away with. So nothing can stop him.
Carla · 61-69, F
@Northwest so...he can threaten anyone. He can act on those threats.
He can militarize at will. Yeah...this is how a free and fair nation operates.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@Carla if you know history you won't repeat it. The people of the US are better from learning history as it occurred, only as the radical right interprets it!
BigGuy2 · 31-35, M
@samueltyler2 oh really, most if not all Americans aren't aware that it was the Black man that STARTED Slavery ... it was the WHITE man that stopped it, if you don't believe me, ask Thomas Sowell 🤷🏼‍♂🤷🏼‍♂🤷🏼‍♂

Is that the same kind of history you're talking about or the re-written Leftist history
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@BigGuy2 you are so much smarter than everyone else on society, notice the spelling of that word.
BigGuy2 · 31-35, M
@samueltyler2 🙄🙄🙄 ... is Thomas Sowell right or wrong 🤷🏼‍♂🤷🏼‍♂🤷🏼‍♂

🤔 ... or is he a 'coconut' 🙄🙄🙄
Federal District Courts surely will find other mischief to get into creating backups pending corrective appeals later. So there is the time in between for unlawfulness. @Carla

@BigGuy2

The earliest known civilizations, such as those in Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Indus Valley, and China, all practiced slavery.

Were they all black?

The Code of Hammurabi, dating back to around 1750 BC, provides some of the earliest written evidence of slavery's existence and legal recognition.

Was Hammurabi, King of Babylon, a black guy?

For the record, slavery in the US was ended by 'liberals' and 'conservatives' wanted to maintain slavery.

@BigGuy2 Conservatives in the Confederacy fought a war over their states rights to own other human beings. In their Letters of Succession, they clearly state that they want slavery.

The 'liberal' concept of freedom for all, ending slavery, was given by Lincoln in his Emancipation Proclamation.

Were you absent that day in class?
BigGuy2 · 31-35, M
@JSul3 it the was Democrats that wanted Slavery to continue, the were the South, it was the Republicans, so North, that went to War over Slavery to end ... it was the North that won the Civil War

🤔 ... it's as simple and basic as that

...there MAY have been Republicans who owned Slaves who didn't want Slavery to end due to their ownership of them, nothing in history has ever been black and white, there is ALWAYS 'grey areas' - but the War was fought on the simple basic concepts of the North/Republicans wanting to end Slavery against South/Democrats wanting Slavery to continue

🤔 ... YOU were absent {physically} the full 3-4 yrs, you being absent {mentally} has been longer, 70-79 yrs in fact

"It the was Democrats that wanted Slavery to continue, the were the South, it was the Republicans, so North, that went to War over Slavery to end ... it was the North that won the Civil War."

True.
At that time the conservatives were the Democratic party. The liberals were the Republican party.

While Lincoln did sign the Emancipation Proclamation, his goal was to save the Union at all costs. Ending slavery was not his #1 objective....and he once stated that he had no issue with slavery!
Evidently he had a "come to Jesus moment" and changed his mind.

The reality is, many in the north didn't give a damn if a black man had freedom and rights. Reconstruction was a joke! They didn't enforce crap....and the results were the Jim Crow laws.

Everybody knows that....but you need to learn the difference from a 'party label'.... Democrat/Republican....and what they stand for....'conservative' and 'liberal.'

Have you ever read a history book and learned that there were liberals and conservatives and moderates in both the Democrat and the Republican parties?

Liberal thought and values freed the slaves, gave blacks and women the right to vote, the right to have credit in their names, own property....while conservative thought seeks to control and restrict freedoms for many who are not white men.

When LBJ got the Civil Rights Act and Voters Rights Act passed, he needed votes from conservative Democrats. He was successful in getting those votes in order to pass these laws, but these 'Dixiecrats' left the Democratic party and became Republicans.

LBJ said that by passing these laws that gave minorites the same rights as white men, that he would lose the South for generations....and he did.

The Southern states became solid conservative Republican.
These red states had symbols of the Confederate battle flag as part of their state flags for years.

So tell me ....if the Republicans freed the slaves, and care so much for minorities, why are they adamant about restricting their access to the ballot box? Why did they pass restrictive voting rules only hours after Justice Roberts gutted the federal protections on voting rights? If they really cared about the ancestors of the folks that you say they freed from slavery, why are they not having voter registration drives in minority neighborhoods, spouting the greatness of the Republican party platform vs doing everything they can to keep them from casting a ballot?
Many of today's conservative Republicans....aka Trump supporters....are radical groups like the Proud Boys and other neo-Nazi groups, wearing swastikas and waving Confederate battle flags, and are white supremacists?

Want some fun? Do a web search on: 'what are the most conservative nations in the world are.

Also look up the definition of 'liberal democracy.'

@JSul3 i don't need to do any of the above as you have proven my point for me

@BigGuy2
Cant answer my simple questions.

Duly noted.
Some may say that questions posed by a “SIMPLETON” are best ignored 🤣 @JSul3
JSul3 · 70-79
@jackjjackson Can you answer my questions?
Of course. HOWEVER since I do not care for your attitude I choose not to 🤣 @JSul3
JSul3 · 70-79
@jackjjackson LOL!

I simply listed historical facts and questioned why the 'party of Trump' doesn't want minorities to vote.

Your refusal to answer my questions, actually answers my questions.

BTW: John Hamm is a liberal, and has said that his character Don Draper was a bad guy.
I am sure you aspire to be just like Don.
