I'm curious. What is wrong with sanctuary cities that something needs to be done about?
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@FoxyQueen Let's see...they are violating the law...they are housing and protecting people here illegally...those resources could be used for citizens...we haven't vetted them and have no idea if they are gang members, drug traffickers, human traffickers, terrorists, etc

@SumKindaMunster Having lived half my life in a sanctuary city, I can honestly say very little of any of that is happening.
They come for jobs, so employers are hiring them under the table. They can also get a TIN which allows them to get an honest paycheck where taxes are taken out that they cannot get utilization of (they don't qualify for state or federal taxable benefits), they are also able to get housing on a TIN. They pay for goods and services, often taxed by the state, for which they cannot receive benefits from, and often do jobs most white people wouldn't lower themselves to do.
As for gang affiliations, that is just silly. Most of the youth join gangs once they are here, or born here, because their families are working too hard to realize their kids have gone down a bad path. Most crime in sanctuary cities is actually low per population in relation to other cities.
Drug and human traffickers are all over America, but tend to be in Florida because it is easier to remove trafficked people from there than it is, say, TX or CA where they are land locked and have to go via border.
Whether we have vetted them or not, employers hire them, making America a viable place for people to make a living. Blame employers for the fact that they are willing to employ non american citizens under the table at horrible wages because that is the main reason they are coming. The other larger portion of people trying to get into america are actually trying to go the legal routes due to amnesty, but have been completely shut out due to bad/racist/discriminatory policies that have prevented them from being able to. If you want them to come in the legal way, try working to make that legal way viable and less complicated. If you just don't want them here, well, that's a personal problem you should work on.

@FoxyQueen That's lovely, your personal anecdote. The plural of anecdote is not data, so we typically don't base policy on someone's personal experience.
Oh and they do jobs that White people won't huh? So you're racist too, eh?
Oooh gang violence is just silly! Gosh, if only everyone would listen to you. Again, this is your personal experience and not everyone's experience or perception.
No. It's not supposed to be easy. They have to do the work. It's plenty easy enough, there are hundreds of NGO's and non profits that exist to help these people. If you have a problem with the system, why don't you work to change it, instead of condescending and shaming those that disagree.

Doesn't make it ok. And before you say anything, Employers who hire illegals should be sanctioned as well. They can also get a TIN which allows them to get an honest paycheck where taxes are taken out that they cannot get utilization
Funny you just said in your previous sentence that they get hired under the table. But now they also pay taxes. That's an assumption you are making. They pay for goods and services, often taxed by the state, for which they cannot receive benefits from, and often do jobs most white people wouldn't lower themselves to do.
Do they pay Income tax? Do they pay school taxes? Do they pay property taxes? No, they do not because they aren't citizens. But they certainly use property and schools in America.Oh and they do jobs that White people won't huh? So you're racist too, eh?

Better idea. Let's just close the border and start vetting people who cross it to reduce the amount of criminals coming over the border. Then we don't have to worry about that. Blame employers for the fact that they are willing to employ non american citizens under the table at horrible wages because that is the main reason they are coming.
I DO blame them. But I have no sympathy for people who cross the border illegally, stay here illegally, and work here illegally. If they get caught and deported, they have nobody to blame but themselves. They made the choice. The other larger portion of people trying to get into america are actually trying to go the legal routes due to amnesty, but have been completely shut out due to bad/racist/discriminatory policies that have prevented them from being able to. @SumKindaMunster Well, I'm not going to reply to any of this because your answers can easily be found with a good honest Google of unbaised sources. But you just want to parrot talking points that have already been proven false, not bother to actually read what I have said, and can't see beyond either/or thinking, which is really unhealthy for your mind.

@FoxyQueen Yeah, you go do whatever it is you are talking about.
We both know you CAN'T rebut this effectively and are trying to shame me because you are overwhelmed.
Try to have a good day that isn't filled with smug superiority, racism and condescending judgment.

@FoxyQueen No, I didn't. I just disagreed. You aren't interested in debating the issue, you want to virtue signal and look down on others with whom you disagree.
