“Crisis” in Spain and Portugal

What is going in Spain and Portugal? Was this an experiment to see how westerners cope without electricity for a few hours? Are they getting them prepared for worse? Why can people deal with it in South Africa but not in Spain and Portugal? Have they never heard of candles? Do they not read books? Can they not go without for more than one day?

@Bibipat Are you in either Spain or Portugal because the news report I heard on BBC Wales at 8.00 am was the Outage was caused by a weather phenomenon.
