The sale was for the benefit of Jones' creditors, namely the Sandy Hook families Jones repeatedly defamed and whom he refused to pay after they got a judgment against him. Having this sale result in the downfall of Jones' media empire while paying out on the defamation judgment for their pain and suffering.
