More Palestinians have been killed in Gaza

This besieged land has seen hundreds of deaths in a few days. Among those killed were two newborn twins and their mother. Tens of thousands have been killed in Gaza since last October. Is this assault justified? We cannot call it a war because Israel is not fighting an army. They are not even fighting Hamas; they are bombing and starving civilians.

yet your country invaded Ukraine. do you agree with that?

@StygianKohlrabi Russia has to protect itself from the West. The West has been interfering in affairs of countries surrounding Russia for a very long time. In 2004, they helped Ukraine start the Orange Revolution by sending advisors and observers to Ukraine and funding their campaign to get rid of Viktor Yanukovych. Ten years later, they did the same thing and there were protests by pro western Ukrainians and pro Russians. Crimea was taken, and Donetsk and Lugansk. These places have been governed by Russia since 2014. Donetsk and Lugansk have not been governed by Kiev for a decade, yet people have responded to this war like Russia's presence in Ukraine is a new phenomenon?

Ukraine has oil and gas that US wants to commercialize. It is a very beneficial to the West to have a pro western Ukraine. USA would love to change leadership in Russia. This would not be to help Russian people, but to further western interests. What is Putin supposed to do? If he were any softer, they would make Russia western, and he does not want that to happen. The West is insane, and he wants to keep the insanity out. In principle, I disagree with war and do not ordinarily support invasions. Many Russians and Ukrainians are being sacrificed. There are some actions by Russia that I do dislike. Bombing civilians is always wrong. Ukraine does bomb civilians too.

I know Zionists in Israel. I am Jewish, and my family supports Israel. Israel's military intervention in Gaza is wrong, as thousands of innocents are dying. Israelis do not have the right to determine that one group of people, their neighbors, are less important than them...with the manifestation of this being the mass slaughter of them. Israel does keep building settlements and mistreating Palestinians. They have never pursued a peaceful solution.

@StygianKohlrabi What choice does Putin have? He has to align with Iran and North Korea if he is to resist the West. Iran is a helpful ally, and North Korea has the same view of the West. They too have proven to be useful. Russia has said there will now be deeper ties with North Korea.

Putin is not going to defeat the West without friends. At present, the West is isolated in its view of Russia. Hungary is an EU country that is friendly with Russia. Other EU countries want to avoid war and stay out of this crisis. France, UK, US continue to provoke Russia, and they have other western countries that support them. The rest of the world does not. Russia having friendly relations with other countries makes it stronger.

Western countries have become tyrannical. There are laws in Russia to ensure that dissent does not lead to the ousting of Putin and Westernization of the country. Westernization would be Russia following the same path that Ukraine is, which would be submission to the West. People are also arrested in the West for tyrannical reasons, like speech and protests. Even in USA, a country that has enshrined free speech, a man was arrested two years ago for protesting outside an abortion clinic. He was raided by FBI agents for defending himself and his son, a child, from one of the individuals volunteering at this clinic. The volunteer is a pro abortion activist. This person was harassing him. In Europe, you can very easily be arrested for your speech. It may not be criticizing your country's military endeavors, but it will be for alleged racism, transphobia, Islamophobia, sexism, or other language that is seen as offensive or insulting. It can also be for “disinformation.”

Israel does not defy the USA because it is the USA. Israel was put there by British and Americans. Britain did promise a state to Palestinians too. They did not really have loyalty to Jews or Palestinians, but we cannot deny the powerful Zionist influence and how Britain was more likely to support Jews. When this is coupled with USA support, Jews were always going to get their way. USA ensured they got their state and hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly moved, others killed. Children were killed too. Israel was founded on violence, whether it be early violence committed by militant Zionists and Palestinians, or violence by the government of Israel after it was established and had a sovereign army. It was always violence. It was so violent in the beginning that the British considered the militant Jews “terrorists” and some were assassinated.

Israel does not need any more settlements in the occupied territories. They build settlements in Jerusalem because they want all of Jerusalem, and this means putting Jews in East Jerusalem. Israel has other places they can build more homes and settlements. Why build them in disputed territories? They also put them in houses that Palestinians live in. These homes were built for Palestinians by UN and Jordan in 1950s, and they were promised they would legally own them. Jews can just come along and start living in them if the Israeli government allows it, which they always do. They can then take the home over, and the Palestinians living there are left homeless. Other examples of Israel's mistreatment of Palestinians are being shot and killed, being separated from the rest of the world with a wall, and they are deprived a state by Israel. Israel could allow Palestine to have a state tomorrow if they wanted, but they won't. Allowing them to have a state means they get to have protected borders and their country. They would have unity and an army. Palestine would not allow any more settlements in their territories, and Israel would have to fundamentally change.

How can Russia be diplomatic with the West? The West has isolated Russia and is unchanging in its desire for Russia to do as told, to be pro West, and allow itself to be weakened. It is the West that practices no diplomacy.
@emiliya let me get this straight. You're a Jew who refers to Israelis as Zionists? 😂Sounds like cold war era propaganda is still going strong over there if that's the case...

I'm just telling you the reasons Israelis act the way they do. It's completely logical. They see Jerusalem as a traditional part of their original nation.
@StygianKohlrabi Since she's traitorous to her fellow Jewish People, maybe hamas has a spot for her, I hear the new vests for autumn are coming out soon, large enough to handle about maybe 20 martyr sticks.
@NativePortlander1970 really not a huge surprise considering people like Schumer. If she is who she says she is...

@StygianKohlrabi If you very much support the state of Israel and believe Israel should exist as a Jewish state, you are a Zionist. We have to assume that most Israelis want Israel to be a Jewish state and see this country as their homeland. I will call them Israelis because this is their nationality. The Jewish militants I told you about were Zionists, and Jews who influenced Britain and USA were Zionists. Do you understand what this term means?

Jerusalem now belongs to three faiths, including Islam. It is not a matter of Jews wanting it for religious reasons, as what they are doing is against God. How can we say they are being led by God and are fulfilling what God wants when they continue to reject Jesus? Judaism has been very wrong for thousands of years.

@NativePortlander1970 I am not a liberal and if I were to live in USA, I would not be a Democrat. “Free Palestine” is a movement that I am neutral toward. I believe that we should follow the words of Jesus and turn the other cheek. Christianity is very hard, which is why so many of us choose not to practice it or feel it is impossible to practice.

George Soros is a very nefarious character. He has been trying to infiltrate China for a long time to change their country, but they always resist him. Soros thinks he has the right to change and influence countries because he has so much money. Since he began doing it, he has always used the same excuse of wanting to help people and ensure they have a “free and open society.” He fails to understand that it is only his idea of free and open, and that this can mean something very different to others, whose nation this is. A man like him can do so many other things with his money. Someone who spends their money on trying to change a country, interfering in their politics and their way of life, is not doing good.
@emiliya Do you want to know what the "free palestine, from the river to the sea" is really about?

@emiliya As for "jesus"
Matthew 10

@StygianKohlrabi This is not true. At least 10% of Israel's population has dual citizenship. Some Israelis had their parents or grandparents move there long after 1948. Many Jews from countries in the Soviet Union moved to Israel in the 1980s and 1990s.

Germanic peoples have long inhabited Germany. Did they leave for hundreds, a thousand, or two thousand years to then return and take over the place when another people were living in this land?
@emiliya if Jews if in the Soviet Union were having a nice life they wouldn't move to another country and start from scratch. if you are from Russia you are aware of that. or maybe your family was lucky enough not to experience it. but that's why many Jews left. the USA is a blessing in that bigotry isn't as well tolerated like it is in other countries despite what everyone says about it. antisemitism is not as bad as it is in Europe yet. in the US groups like the KKK are seen as a$sclowns. also take into account that Mizrahi Jews were literally kicked out of many of their countries and sent packing after the advent of Israel. you seem to suffering some kind of cognitive dissonance from your identity. it's unusual.

@NativePortlander1970 What do you think is controversial about Matthew 10? Jesus is telling us that if we believe in God, we must also believe in him. If we do not, how can we believe in God?

Jesus did not want to cause conflict among us. He is against violence and wants peace. All he is acknowledging here is that there are going to be some people who will not accept him, and will not accept truth. There will also be those who do. Accepting truth may leave you vulnerable to attack or rejection from those who don't. God says you should choose him when this happens. A son turning against his father and a daughter turning against her mother is a consequence of a person's resistance to truth and to God. The mother and father are fighting with their children because their children are following Jesus.

Jesus is not talking about a sword that can be used to commit physical harm.
@emiliya You do know what diaspora means, right? The Israelis were forced out into exile after Rome had their way with them. You don't even know your own heritage.
@emiliya Proof that you don't know how to comprehend anything you read.

@NativePortlander1970 “By supporting hamas you are a traitor to Israel, and even your own family there.”

I don't support Hamas, and never said or indicated I did.

“You do know what diaspora means, right? The Israelis were forced out into exile after Rome had their way with them. You don't even know your own heritage.”

Most of them were. Others stayed for a longer period and then left. Galilee had a significant Jewish presence after the Bar Kokhba revolt and the subsequent genocide and expulsion of Jews by Romans. Around half a million were killed, and many villages were destroyed. Some Jews did choose to leave. Jews were banned from Jerusalem for some years. If they had not had the revolt, no one would have been killed or had to leave. When the Arabs came, they began the Arabization of the land. The crusaders then came and took over. It was lost to the Muslims because the crusaders became less unified and began to fight with one another. Muslims were very unified, and the Christians had become weak. There were still Jews living in Palestine, but the group with the most recent claim to the land are Muslims. Middle East was taken over by Islam.
@emiliya It's Israel, NEVER "palestine".
emiliya · 22-25, F
@NativePortlander1970 The Romans renamed it Palestine. It is historically correct to use this name if we are talking about events after the Bar Kokhba revolt, and prior to the establishment of Israel in 1948.
MasterLee · 56-60, M
@emiliya no the british used the term. You are confusing the word philistine, whuch is not the same.
emiliya · 22-25, F
@MasterLee Palestine is derived from philistia. The Romans renamed it Palaestina. When Jews had control of this land, when it was ours, it was called kingdom of Israel. We broke our covenant with God, and it split, forming the kingdom of Judah in the south and Israel in the north. We still had it, but God says that when Jews break the covenant, we are punished and no longer receive the same protection from Him. The Assyrians came, and then it was conquered by Babylonia. They destroyed the first temple. After this, it was the Persians and later the Greeks. Jews later regained control and had independence again. Romans then came. A military revolt during their occupation was not the answer, as it led to masses of Jews being killed and many being exiled or leaving.

In rejecting Jesus, Jews are rejecting God.
