A prediction concerning illegal immigration.....

With the influx of illegal migrants now being sent to northern "sanctuary"cities,I've read that leaders in certain affluent towns/cities in Chicago and California are creating programs to encourage families to house migrants families. If the situation continues,I suspect it will get to the point where they will try-Im sure it will be challenged in court-to MANDATE that private residences house them.It may sound crazy, but I think it will happen.

There is no way individual families would be compelled to take in immigrants. And there is nothing wrong with encouraging families to take others in. I wouldn't hesitate to take in a family that was in need. I have plenty of space and don't mind sharing the blessings I have.

@windinhishair If that's how you feel about the situation,I can respect that. But I stand by my prediction. But remember that I said they'll TRY;I'm sure it will face and legal challenge and will probably be struck down.

@DavidT8899 It would clearly be struck down, which is why it will not be attempted. There is nothing in US law that requires people to house others, any more than you can be required to drive others to appointments or buy their groceries and bring them home to them.

@windinhishair I hope you are right, but we are living in crazy times and we have some crazy leaders.I just have a feeling......

@DavidT8899 It is definitely a crazy time, but as long as we have laws and a nation, it isn't going to happen.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@windinhishair I hope you are right, but Id like to point out that we have laws as a nation that are not supposed to allow illegal immigration to begin with, and you can see how that's going.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@DavidT8899 There is a fundamental difference though. Immigration involves laws that aren't currently working and need to be changed by Congress. There are no laws mandating compulsory housing of immigrants.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@windinhishair True enough, but keeping mind that the current situation is not being caused by laws that don't work;it is that the laws aren't being ENFORCED.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@DavidT8899 Which bears no resemblance to laws that don't exist.
DavidT8899 · 22-25, M
@windinhishair I think you might be surprised at how creative corrupt leaders can be in getting people to do what they want.I hope I'm wrong.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@DavidT8899 I'm not surprised at all. I have seen Trump coerce the Republican Party and a vast majority of its members into embracing authoritarian racist white supremacist views. The Party didn't even have a party platform in 2020. The party existed then and exists now to further Trump's person interests in revenge and retribution.

@windinhishair Rather than embrace I would say empower to express openly.
Magists already had those views.
windinhishair · 61-69, M
@tindrummer Many, if not most of them did. However, now they are free to express those views in public, without consequence.
