I don't know enough about the process. If you sedate someone first, then cut off their oxygen, then theoretically they "die in their sleep". I see little difference then between this and lethal injection. But if he was conscious when his oxygen was taken away, no doubt he would feel like he is suffocating.

My basic stance is against all capital punishment, because 1) it is not a deterrent, and 2) I think the motivation stems from an "eye for an eye" type of mentality. I generally view that no human has a right to decide whether another human lives or dies. That is why murder is wrong, and by extension that is why the death penalty is wrong.

@trollslayer no he was not sedated
He suffocated slowly to his death
It even took longer than expected cuz he held his breath

@Moon3624 yeah, i heard that last night

@trollslayer
I鈥檓 not American.
Do all US states have death penalty or does it differ from a state to another ?
Does a specific crime qualify for the death penalty or purely depends
On the decision of the jury
And the background(social status, skin color etc ) of the criminal?
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@Moon3624 it differs from state to state. New York doesn't have the death penalty, but that's cause New Yorkers are sane.

@Moon3624 Not all US states have the death penalty, but probably all red states have it and some blue states do too. It purely depends on the decision of the judge and jury and the background of the criminal.

@basilfawlty89 New Yorkers are sane, you say?

I remind you that Donald Trump is a New Yorker.

@RedBaron 'Was'
He's now a Floridian
RedBaronM
@TrashCat But he was born and raised in Queens and lived in Manhattan.

Once a New Yorker, always a New Yorker.

You can take a New Yorker out of New York, but you can鈥檛 take New York out of the New Yorker.
basilfawlty8931-35, M
@RedBaron now you're being pedantic. I didn't say every single New Yorker is more sane, I spoke generally. Most New Yorkers hate Trump. Do the math.
RedBaronM
@basilfawlty89 I wasn鈥檛 the one trying to argue that he鈥檚 not a New Yorker.
