If you’ve followed the news, Taiwan will have a new President sworn in in a few months. His win has definitely gotten the attention of Xi and the CCP is NOT happy.
They may just decide to go for Taiwan, and if they do before the election, Joe’s mettle “ we will defend Taiwan” is going to be sorely tested.

A conundrum for sure. Added to Ukraine and Israel by my count that makes three fronts. @soar2newhighs
@jackjjackson Don't forget Yemen, Biden seems to be escalating that one lately.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Good point. That would be what? FOUR? @independentone
@jackjjackson Because every conflict is the fault of the sitting US president? There were over 160 active conflicts while Trump was president, but of course that doesn't count.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
Regardless of who is in the WH I support no conflicts open closed secret or otherwise. @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson That's nice, you're a pacifist. I guess after Oct. 7, Israel should have issued an apology to Hamas for daring to exist. And Ukraine should submit to their Russian overlords.

Good thing you weren't around in 1776 or we'd still be a British colony.

The issues need to be resolved separate in this order

Border
Israel
Ukraine

The dem scam having 17% of the money going to the border got lost in the Senate. Let’s get our priorities straight. Ukraine has already gotten $100B plus, Israel will continue to get support. However the 17% for the border dem scam doesn’t fly.

@LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson Too bad the Senate Republicans don't have enough backbone to stand up to Trump and pass the border funding. Trump literally ordered them to vote against it so he can run on "I will fix the border." It's inconvenient if the border crisis is resolved under Biden.

This proves that neither Trump nor the GOP care about illegal immigration. It's just a tool to get the MAGA base in an uproar.

The bill is rigged. Only 17% of the money is for the border. Do the math. It’s a trick. @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson 17% is bigger than 0%, which is what your party left us with. The bill would have increased border funding by $36 billion, hardly an insignificant number. The entire $118 billion wasn't going to go for the border, the point was to include funding for Israel, Ukraine, and humanitarian aid in addition to the border.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
At a minimum divide it one third each. @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson I mean, sure, we can argue all day about the allocation, but the important takeaway is that the Senate tried to put together a bill that included funding for border security, and Trump ordered the Republicans to kill it because he doesn't want Biden to get credit for solving the problem. However, a bipartisan group of the House and Senate have put together their own bill that moves some money around and includes border funding.

You’ve let yourself be fooled by a measly 17% that they knew the House would never go for nor would the vast majority of Americans. The blame’s lays with Biden’s handlers. @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson "Biden's handlers" have nothing to do with it as the bill never got to Biden. The blame lies with Trump, and the lickspittle Republicans who are terrified to cross him. And the House will never go for anything that doesn't have the orange god's blessing. Kevin McCarthy wasn't one-tenth the leader Nancy Pelosi was, and Mike Johnson isn't one-tenth the leader McCarthy was.

You claim that you're not a Trump fluffer, so why is it so hard for you to admit what everyone knows, that Trump torpedoed this legislation? It's not a secret.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
What did Trump have to do with it? I’m no aware of that? @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson DIdn't you read the article? Trump called his allies in the Senate and told them to kill the border funding bill because he doesn't want Biden to get credit for fixing it. Instead, he wants to prolong the chaos so Congress can pass a bill after he's elected so he can take credit for it. And now he's telling Mike Johnson to not bring the House bill to the floor.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
I see. So it’s your theory that the majority of Congress would have approved a measly 17% for the border despite the American public believes the border is the number one priority and that an out of office Trump alone tanked this ridiculous proposal? @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson It's not my theory. It's being reported widely. The Republicans tanked the bill because Trump told them to. The GOP is in Trump's pocket. Look what happens to any legislator who goes against him. Remember Liz Cheney? What did she do that was so horrible other than criticize the orange lord and savior?

Also, the percentage is irrelevant. What's important is the actual amount of money. The border patrol is currently having a half-billion dollar shortfall this year and the $36 billion in the bill would have made a huge difference. ICE doesn't need the kind of weapons Ukraine and Israel need. Despite your belief that Central American refugees are an "invading army," they're not the equivalent of the Russian army or Hamas.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
It’s $20B @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson The failed bill was $118 billion in total, comprising $60 billion for Ukraine, $14 billion for Israel, $2.6 billion for Taiwan, $10 billion in humanitarian aid, and the rest, around $31 billion, for the border. However, $20 billion would have made a difference, at least compared to $0 which is what the border is getting now.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
The three things should be voted on separelty on this order

Border
Israel
Ukraine
Border
Border
Border

@LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson If you do that, then you won't get anything. Politics is the art of sausage-making.

There won't be any border funding. Trump has seen to that.

Biden will veto any stand-alone Israel bill.

The Republicans won't agree to a stand-alone Ukraine bill.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
The end of sausage making AKA enacting laws where even the politicians voting on them don’t know what’s in them need to be over. The public has been screwed over with that deceptive practice. @LeopoldBloom
@jackjjackson So vote for people who promise not to do that.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
So you have a good reason why anyone would not? @LeopoldBloom
