Instead of letting others here tell me what I think, here are some of MY views on politics, government, the military, the world and some other things.

I’ve finally had it with snarky commenters telling me inaccurately what I think and looking to pick fights rather than think.

HERE GOES:

I am opposed to imperialist sheriffing by the US. Our carriers shouldn’t be randomly floating world wide poised to bomb the hell out of some vastly outweaponed country for non transparent reasons while at the same time being sitting ducks waiting to be sunk by existing sophisticated weaponry. My point is that with technology AND the stealth fighters and bombers the US has developed using old carriers basically as island airstrips easily extended plane range. I see that as a better choice than scrapping or scuttling them now. What type of “world police person” the US is or has been needs to be in the rear view. Between Biden DeSantis Haley and Trump, guess who is most likely to espouse that view? Crazy right. While I did support Trump in 2016 and in fact was a delegate to the RNC convention that nominated him, he is way far away in my rear view. If I had to choose among the four, I’d pick Haley despite her hawkish pronouncements and hope it’s tough talking to distinguish herself from the field only. DeSantis is a Trump wannabe and too much of a wuss to openly disagree with him. Trump’s baggage disqualifies him as does his age and basically way out of shape unhealthy appearance. A walking heart attack. Biden is even older. We see weekly the RIGHT NOW Biden is a doddering old fool. Time will make that even worse if possible. You may had read previously my opinion that a candidate should be no more than 60 on the day the first term oath is taken. It’s not a disqualifier for running for reelection if the first requirement is met. At most out of office at 68. Biden’s appearance and action validate the he’s too old argument. Even RFK, Jr. is too old as is Cornell West. I would seriously consider either if they were ten years younger. There is a reason that presidents appear to have aged 20 years after being in office for 8. It’s a grueling job. The only three recent presidents meeting my age requirement are BO, WJC and GWB. While disagreeing with some policies of all three, history so far has been kind to all of them and their standing among presidents will only increase as time goes by. Maybe in the future medical advances my change my age criteria because historically people with money and sense age better and better every decade. We should be ashamed of ourselves for having two such horrible frontrunners both of whom we have seen in action and have failed us. At least the republicans are on the right track age wise. The democrats irresponsibly do not have a VP in office capable of being president. Had they not failed us we would have three qualified candidates. The hypothetical VP who isn’t, DeSantis and Haley. I’d be pleased with any election outcome among them regardless of the winner and hope the nominees make sensible VP selections. I guess I’ve rambled a bit here however I’m sick and tired of being inaccurately labeled a Trump sycophant when that is patently false. Had we had any sense we would have learned from Korea and used our citizens and treasure more wisely. Not VietNam, no Ukraine, no Middle East, no lesser known blunders, a better Iran. When you think about it if Iran was India like in world approach the world would be a better place. Maybe Putin will die soon either from age, bad lifestyle or murdered and fresh ideas will flourish in Russia. Fortunately currently lined up to defend us from China’s unknown plans, a team of the US, India, Canada, the Uk, the EU and others will keep China at bay for awhile. Let’s keep Trump and Biden out of the WH and begin to understand the 21st century.

So a couple of thoughts.

I agree with the consensus the the US is NOT the world police and we are sewing our own demise to continue down this Imperial path. I don't think we should have gone to war over Ukraine, and I am hesitant about Taiwan as well.

The US used to only intervene when we felt there were no other options. Perhaps that was crap, but we don't even bother to debate such things anymore. How is it that Biden can unilaterally go to war over Ukraine and send our military to support Israel without having a debate about it and getting Congress to support it? It's ridiculous we've allowed it to get this bad.

Absolutely no major candidate running is of interest to me. Of the running, only DeSantis seems like he is willing to push the social issues that Trump was willing to. He didn't bow down to Disney even when it got ugly for him. I have NO interest in war mongers and that definitely includes Nikki Haley. She's reminding me of HRC now, needing to talk tough and make threats so she can be taken seriously.

I too am moving on from Trump. I supported him as President and voted for him in 2020. But as much as he has been screwed over, it will not make things better to re-elect him. You know as well as I that people will burn this country to the ground if he is re-elected. I can't get behind that as disgusted as it makes me.

Biden is a decrepit old man. Anyone who has had to care for an elderly relative knows exactly what is going on with him and they are appalled that this guy is ostensibly running the country. I wouldn't trust the guy to make his own dinner, but somehow we are trusting him to run this country and go up against Putin and Xi. I know multiple long term, progressive Democrats who registered Republican this year because they cannot and will not vote for Biden.

Did you watch the Newsome/DeSantis debate? This might be a preview for whom we will actually select next year in 2024.

Yes. Definitely better than the current choices and hopefully DeSantis would win overwhelmingly. I’m not quite ready to equate Haley and Mrs Clinton my interest in Haley is that I think she is best positioned to beat Biden if that is the matchup. In a DeSantis Biden matchup the dems could play the lack of experience and abortion cards more effectively. My worst fear is a Biden reelection and the resulting potential for a Harris presidency That is extremely ugly. @SumKindaMunster

@jackjjackson Ugh yeah. Republicans need to make a point of getting a national compromise worked out on abortion and put this issue behind them. You are correct it is killing them at the polls since Roe v Wade was overturned.

I personally don't think Biden makes it to the next election. He's only a pants shit away in public from being removed.

It seems like everyone, including the current administration is not a fan of Harris. She's terrible when not on message and struggles to stay on message in even the most mundane of circumstances. At least Biden can get through a speech, she can't even answer questions without flubbing her replies.

His facial skin seems to have tightened and become thinner and he is also squinting a lot more. Have you doesn’t that stuff and what do you think it is? @SumKindaMunster
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson Hm, can't say I've noticed. I would speculate they are pumping him full of drugs to keep him going and that might be what you are seeing.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
How long can they whoever they are continue this farce? Besides Dr Jill, who else do you think is involved? @SumKindaMunster
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson I would guess his chief of staff and administrative staff are complicit in this. Have you seen how they sometimes run interference for him at events where Biden is asked questions?
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
How much do you think the child that gives press briefing knows? @SumKindaMunster
SumKindaMunster · 51-55, M
@jackjjackson Nothing. She's a spokesperson. She just says what she is told to say. She stays on message.
