Can you help me make sense of this?

The right has limited the chance for millions of women to have an abortion, but now wants to severely cut (or eliminate), aid for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

If I understand what I've read, the right says you have no choice, you will carry the fetus to full-term and we will make sure you and the child starve.

What is this insanity?

That’s always been the case with the right, alas.
Contrary to what they claim, their stance on abortion has nothing whatsoever to do with caring about children.
It it did, they’d support school lunch programs, Head Start and social programs that help low income women with prenatal care—but they never do.
They’re even making it difficult for working women with healthcare plans that cover birth control.
The right basically wants to punish women for having sex, in keeping with their Fundamentalist "Christian Sharia Law" beliefs.

@bijouxbroussard I agree, they are out to punish women... while condoning men having sex, even raping women.
@Ontheroad Yes. That’s the only possible explanation those companies could have for not covering women’s birth control while making Viagra available. 😳

@bijouxbroussard Never mind they voted for, and still support a rapist.
@Ontheroad Exactly. But saddest of all are women who are so brainwashed they vote against their own interests.

@bijouxbroussard This is something that I can't understand, and I know some, even many of these women are otherwise intelligent people.

@bijouxbroussard Nor are they doing anything about the approximately 40% of single parents who don't get even court-ordered child support.

@bijouxbroussard This is so true. I understand their point, it is life, you can't deny it, but they don't seem like terribly altuistic people for born people. It's really has it's roots in misogyny.
@JimboSaturn I had an aunt who was "pro-life".
But while she didn’t terrorize women’s clinics, she did vote consistently for social programs that provided extras for people with children. She and my uncle also adopted two children in addition to the three they had borne, plus they fostered others. And they protested executions in their state.

I didn’t agree with the politics of anti-choice, but I respected that they at least tried to "walk the talk".

@Ontheroad
even many of these women are otherwise intelligent people.

It's because they don't believe that it applies to them.
